In the winter Mallnitz turns into a fairy-tale world. The village has its own ski area called Ankogel (2636m). From Mallnbach Apartments this area is 5 minutes away. The ski bus stops in front of the house, so the car can remain standing. Ankogel is characterized by being a quiet, compact and snow-sure area. Ideal for families and starting winter sports enthusiasts. But this area also offers sufficient challenge for the more experienced winter sports enthusiast.

The Mölltal Glacier (3122m) is a 20-minute drive away. Skiing is possible during 9 months per year. Both ski areas are accessible with 1 ski pass.

A day of winter sports in the Bad Gastein area is possible due to the good connection via the Auto Schleuse Tauernbahn, unfortunately this area is not accessible with the lift pass from Mallnitz Ankogel and Mölltaler Gletscher.

Cross-country skiing has become increasingly popular in recent years. The cross-country trails in and around Mallnitz, with a total length of approximately 25km, are one of the most beautiful in Carinthia. The trails bring the cross-country skier to the most beautiful places and associated views. The start of the trails is in the middle of the village, here is also a large parking lot so that the car can be parked easily.

Ski resort Ankogel has about 20 kilometers of blue, red and black slopes. Ski resort Mölltaler Glacier also has about 20 kilometers of blue, red and black slopes.

Classic sledding down on one of the longest illuminated toboggan runs in Carinthia. Up the winding road with a van or by foot. Up to the point where space can be taken on the sled. The hat is well put on, the snow boots are put on extra, the scarf is even more tied around the neck, the right position is taken and a little push is enough to roam down. But 1 time is of course never enough. Roasting down for the second time. And at the end of the ride, a delicious hot chocolate at the Stockerhütte with the adrenaline still veering through the body.
