As Mallnitz is member of the international network Alpine Pearls (focussing on sustainable tourism and evironmentally friendly mobility), we recommend travelling by train or bus when possible. Mallnitz has its own railway station (Mallnitz-Obervellach Bahnhof).
Thats why Mallnitz has good train connections to diverse cities such as Salzburg and München. Or good connections to different countries such as Slovenia, Italy or the Netherlands. For actual schedules please check:

​Don't worry about the last miles from station to Mallnbach Apartments. A shuttle service or personal pick-up can be provided! Prefer a short walk? No worries, Mallnbach Apartments is only a 5-minute walk from the railway station.

Fact: From Utrecht Centraal (Netherlands) to Mallnitz, an average of 11 hours travel time. And from Utrecht to Amsterdam is only 25 minutes...

Consider the Vignette, which is mandatory on the roads of Austria. To be picked up at various gas stations for the border. Vignets are available for 10 days, 2 months or 1 year. Before the journey begins, set the navigation to: Bahnhof Böckstein.

 

The last part then goes by train. This is the fastest route to Mallnitz with the least kilometers. No worries about the car, because it goes along with the Autoschleuse Tauernbahn.

 

The first ride leaves at 6:20 pm (then every hour) and the last ride leaves at 11:30 pm. The first ride from Mallnitz leaves at 5:50 am (then every hour) and the last ride leaves at 11:30 pm. Arrive between 11 p.m. and 6 p.m. Then navigating to Stappitz 110, Mallnitz is the alternative. Partly there is a toll road for € 12. Extra kilometers +/- 90km.

 

An 'insider' tip: pay attention to the speed, hidden speed cameras on both A, B and village roads. Unfortunately, Germany / Austria knows well how the fines should fall on the Dutch doorstep ...

Preferrably travelling  by plane?
Than is flying to Ljubljana (S), Salzburg (O) or Munich (D) the best options.

 

From the airport easily by train to Mallnitz.

 

Train Ljubljana (S) to Mallnitz approximately 2.5 hours.
Train Salzburg (O) to Mallnitz approximately 1.5 hours.

Train Munich (D) to Mallnitz approximately 3.5 hours.
